The Publishing Puzzle

Puzzles have never been my forte, and the Rubix Cube was no exception. No matter how I twisted and turned that thing, I still couldn't get it right.

Getting a book published is a whole lot like putting a puzzle together. Learn how to write, pray for inspiration, learn how to pitch a book, unlock the mysteries of a dynamic proposal, and the list goes on. Even when we get all the pieces together, one trip can send the whole thing crashing down.

Then one awesome, exciting day it happened. A contract offered from both a publisher and an agent sat on my desk, awaiting my signature.

No matter how I tried before these treasures had eluded me. Thanks to a few circumstances put into place by the Master's hand, it came together.

Hmm, maybe I should give that Rubix Cube a try again.

I've never been able to solve the rubix cube. lol
But publishing...yes. I followed the steps and it eventually led me where I wanted to go. :-)

Congratulations, Susan! It has been a blessing to see your puzzle come together. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of it plays out. Interesting timing on this post, I'm thinking! :)

Blessings,
Karen

I too have struggled with the rubix cube! :) I'm so happy for you, Susan! I love reading about this lag of your writing journey!

Hi Jess - I'm glad you did because I loved your book. :)

Hi Karen - LOL! Yeah, I kept getting the words, "hold steady," today. The Lord has quite a sense of humor.

Hi Melanie - Thank you. When the blog tour starts, you'll have plenty of opportunities to read more. :)

Blessings,
Susan

I don't have the patience for most literal puzzles... even the jigsaw kind. I can putter at them, but eventually walk away in frustration.

When it comes to publishing, nothing has "fallen into place" yet, but I've been enjoying each step of the journey. I'm so happy for where yours has taken you and am excited about seeing the last bits come together soon.

Hi Carol -

Ah, yes, patience! It's a requirement for both natural puzzles and the publishing puzzle. Persevere, and you'll soon see the picture emerge.

Blessings,
Susan :)

I did have something like that happen once. Everything seemed to be going my way. Then I hit a wall and since a part of what I needed to do was out of my expertise, it all fell through.

I still believe the good series can happen again, but with a big finish this time.

Hi Nancy -

I can relate. There's been a lot of trial and error along the way.

Blessings,
Susan :)
