Friday Round-Up - #41

The book drawing for "Home Another Way" by Christa Parrish is almost over. The deadline is tomorrow, 3/21/09. Don't forget to include your email address in your comment. I love giving away books!

Have you ever dreamed up an unusual character name or a dramatic scene, and decided to put it aside for future use? In her article, "No Holds Barred Writing," C.J. Darlington urges us to go for the gusto. Use that name or that brilliant phrase.

Finally, Sherryl Clark asks, "If you're not writing, are you a writer?" Her analysis made me squirm a bit. I know I'm not writing enough. Even though journaling counts as writing, it won't add to my novel's word count.

Have a blessed weekend!

And don't forget, your blogging counts as writing too. :) But I know what you mean, sometimes what we need is to force ourselves to keep writing on our novels even when we'd rather be doing a hundred other things!

That's so funny about that quote! Last night I procrastinated on the computer. Finally, I forced myself to stand and this is totally what I thought: How can I be a writer if I don't write? So then I marched to my laptop and started working on my wip. It's tough to get started, for me, but once I do it's wonderful.
:-)
Journaling can still be good. Someday you may be famous and everyone will want to read about your life! :-)

The book you are giving away sounds like one we all us writers should be reading!

OOO, that's a stinky question! :) I better start writing more! LOL Actually, it certainly provokes re-evaluating a bit, doesn't it?

Hi Donna -

Sorry for the confusion. You're already entered on the Monday post. The Friday Round-up was a deadline reminder.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Jess -

I know what you mean. We human beings seem to shy away from self-discipline. I also have a hard time getting started, but then find myself totally immersed in my work.

Horrors! My journals are such a hodgepodge - no literary genius there. LOL.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Jody -

Isn't it amazing how urgent and exciting laundry looks when we're ready to write? The same holds true for devotional time.

I'm glad writing blogs count. At the moment, I'm working on mine and the church blog.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Jaime -

I didn't like it either, but it forced me to take a hard look at my writing habits. Sometimes we need something to wake us up.

Blessings,
Susan :)
