The Benefits of Blog Subscription

Once I signed up for email notifications on several blogs, I never looked at my Blogger reader again. Here are some of the benefits:

1.  Time Saver - This is HUGE! I no longer have to think about what blogs I want to visit. The latest posts are right there in my email with the subject drawing me into the content.

2.  Reminder - With so much great information available, I can keep the important stuff at my fingertips. I don't have to Google it or research a subject multiple times.

3.  Industry Updates - I can stay on top of publishing news/tips with Edie Melson, Jeff Goins, the Positive Writer, Blogging Bistro, and so many others.

4.  Staying Connected - With all the social media out there, this is the way I stay connected to the blogosphere. I don't have to guess when a new post will appear. It's delivered to me personally.

5.  Keeping in Touch with Old Friends and Making New Ones - It's easy to drift around the Net without much direction. Subscribing to blogs helps fine tune my focus.

Writers and Readers: What's your opinion on subscribing to blogs? Yay or nay? Please give your reasons.

Hi, Susan. Like you, I use subscriptions. I also have my home page set up with feed from several major newspapers that regularly post articles for writers. It's a great way to stay informed.
Blessings!
Jean

I am allergic to a full email box, so I do not subscribe by email, I am following a lot of blogs and I have quite a number on my blog roll, so I see it when a new post shows up!

Overall, I think subscribing is a good idea. I do find though, that I need to stay on top of my subscriptions lest they clutter my mailbox. This is only a problem for ones I don't visit as frequently or at all anymore. I just take care to subscribe to ones I really want to read.

Happy Monday! :)

Oh dear. I am so afraid of more emails and not answering them when I should so I shy away from that!

Hi Susan - I'm not a fan of email subscriptions - so shy away. I use Reader .. but I definitely need to organise my life somewhat so I can filter out more ..

Blog following and commenting is fantastic but takes a lot of time .. I don't know how others do it and I only blog! Cheers Hilary

Subscription is the way to go. It can clog up your e-mail but it is much easier.

I've been subscribing to blogs for several years now. It's easier for the reasons you note.

There are blogs that don't give the option to subscribe. Of those, I become a follower or, if that option isn't there either, I jot down the blog name on my list of blogs to visit weekly.

Happy subscribing!
