Happy New Year!

Thank you for your support of Christian Writer/Reader Connection throughout 2009. Your friendship and blogs have encouraged me to keep my forward momentum.

My writing goals for the new year are straightforward:

1. Edit Book 1.

2. Do a first draft of Book 3.

3. Start editing Book 2.

On a personal level:

1. I pray for opportunities to promote authors and their work.

2. See the further development of friendships already established and make new ones.

3. Continue to seek the Lord for His direction for my life.

What are your goals for 2010?

My writing goals are similar. Edit/revise book 4 and write and finish book 5. :)

My goals? More of Him; less of me. Same as last year. There are a number of things I hope to do and/or achieve too, but mostly I want to get and stay centered on His best for my life in lieu of all the competing "good" things I often select instead.

Thank you for keeping us focused in the realm of writing. Yours is always a valuable & much appreciated collection of resources!

Blessings,
Kathleen

Hi Susan,
For my writing--I want to expand my blog, submit to new markets, complete an online class I'm enrolled in and attend a homeschooling conference.
Personally--Read the Bible through, memorize more Scripture, improve my mothering/wife-ing skills, (Is that a word?) and purpose to be more of a Mary and less of a Martha.
There, I actually got those down.
Thanks for asking. I also look forward to following your blog this year.
Blessings,
Carol

Great goals, Susan! Your number one is my number one! I MUST get my book edited! I also want to enter some contests this year and get some feedback. Scary, huh?

Hi Katie -

I may add a few more along the way. All of these goals are time consuming, so anything more will be the icing on the cake. (Oh dear, is that a cliche?)

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Kathleen -

Thanks for your kind words.

You can't go wrong when you focus on the Lord. After all, He's the source of all our creativity, the giver of the gift.

I love the point you made about looking for God's best versus the competing good things.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Carol -

Thanks for sharing your 2010 goals. I pray the Lord will help you accomplish them, and maybe even throw in a surprise or two. :)

Blessings,
Susan

Hi Sherrinda -

Editing is a tough one for me. I love those first drafts, but then the real work begins.

Hmm, why do I feel like there's a blog post in those words?

Blessings,
Susan :)

Susan:
I plan on searching for new outlets for my writing. I also will continue to do those two newsletters for that ministry. Keep better daily word count of what I write.
I intend to read for at least 30 minutes before I go to bed. I will use Marlene Bagnull's Write His Answer as one of my devotional books. I will study the OT major prophets. I will continue to participate in my local writing group and particpate more in the online groups I belong to. I intend to practice time management skills and set personal deadlines for myself.

Hi Quiet Spirit -

Great goals for 2010! I found setting up an EXCEL worksheet helped me keep track of my word count. If you want more details, shoot me an email.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Still haven't sorted out all my goals and projects, but I am getting there. The desk is cleaned off and that's helpful to get me going:) Like my life, goal setting is a work in progress! Blessings to you and your gang!

Hi Karen -

You make an interesting point about your life being a work in progress.

While I have my goal list, I'm flexible enough to make adjustments as the Lord leads. Manuscript #2 wasn't even on the radar screen when I wrote last year's goals.

Blessings,
Susan :)
