Friday Round-Up - #36

"Hi" to all my friends in the PCFW chapter of American Christian Fiction Writers. My local ACFW group and PCFW got together last weekend for lunch, fellowship, and a discussion on how to conduct a book signing. I'm tucking that one in my files for future reference.

Do you attend a writers' group in your area? Check around and see if there are others. You'll double your knowledge base and meet new friends. The two groups are hoping to hold a joint meeting again in the near future.

Gaye Gaymer Martin wrote a detailed series on Research for Fiction Writing. This link will bring you to Part I, but be sure to catch the rest of them. Her blog is a valuable resource for craft articles.

The Edit Cafe, the blog home of Barbour editors, Rebecca Germany and JoAnne Simmons, gives a list of the 2009 Fiction Bestsellers. If you scroll all the way to the end of the page, you'll find the list. Out of 20 spots, Karen Kingsbury snagged five of them, Ted Dekker captured three, and Joel Rosenberg got two. What title beat out the entire field? Hmm, see if you can guess before looking at the list, and put it in your comment. Find out who else made the cut by clicking here.

Have a blessed weekend. :)

Let me guess: The Shack?
Hehee, now I'll go look.

Oh, as for Dekker. I think if you'll check out his much older works, particularly Blessed Child and When Heaven Weeps, then you might like the supernatural elements. He was much more clear then about giving Jesus the glory.

Hi Jess -

I won't say "yay" or "nay" until everyone else has had an opportunity to guess. Thanks for the tip about the older Ted Dekker titles.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hey Susan, I just tried out the link to see who made the list but it took me to the Edit Cafe instead. Thought I'd let you know. :-)

Hi Jess -

That's correct. If you notice in my post, I give instructions to scroll to the bottom of the page. The list is there. :)

Blessings,
Susan

I would guess the Shack too, since it was such a big hit.

Have a great weekend and a happy Valentine's!

Hi Sarah -

That's two votes for The Shack.

I hope you and Chris have a Happy Valentine's Day!

Blessings,
Susan :)

Aha! I was right!
But boy am I embarrassed that I didn't follow directions. LOL

Hi Jess -

Yup! The Shack is numero uno on the bestseller list.

No need to be embarrassed. Sometimes I skim posts and miss details. Remember when you told everyone that you were not finished with your manuscript even though the counter indicated you had reached your goal? Who congratulated you on its completion? You got it - me. LOL!

Blessings,
Susan
