Friday Round-Up - #168
If you've attended a conference, it's happened to you. You're in an elevator with an agent/editor, at lunch, in the hall, sitting in a workshop waiting for a class to start, and the dreaded question is asked. What are you writing?
Carla Olson Gade, at Writing to Distraction, posted a hilarious video on elevator pitches. The video is toward the end of the article. We're glad Carla is getting back into the groove. We missed her.
Do the words, "elevator pitch" make your eyes glaze over? How do you overcome that fear and form a coherent description of your book or article?

That phrase used to strike fear deep into my heart. And then I really got to know my story, so now they aren't as scary.
Of course, now the scary part is being able to say it without stuttering and stumbling. Still working on that! Off to writing to distraction!!
Thanks
I actually was in an elevator alone with an agent I would have loved to pitch to, but we were both so exhausted we were retreating to our rooms for a nap. I'm thankful I did see her later on. ;)

Hi Kristen -
My problem is knowing the story, but having trouble condensing it into a few words. :)
Enjoy the video!

Susan
Hi Wendy -
Now, that's something to consider. Just because you find yourself in a elevator with an agent/editor doesn't mean you MUST give them a pitch.
Later on, they might remember you as that considerate individual, who gave them the space they needed.
Blessings,
Susan :)
I love the video! Thanks, Susan.
Blessings.

I am still learning it Susan :)
Have a good time at the conference!
That was great. Such good tips in such a short time. I left a comment for Carla, too.
Will check out the link. Thanks Susan! :)
Blessings,
Karen
Have a good weekend.
Hahhahaaa, I've been alone with them and never had one ask that question. Hmmm. LOL
Hi Jean -
I thought it was a unique way to get the point across. :)
Blessings,
Susan
Hi Marja -
We're all on the learning curve. :)

Hi Nancy -
I'm glad you got something out of the video. Thanks for supporting Carla. She has an excellent blog.
Blessings,
Susan :)
Hi Karen -
Now, if you were only able to be here and pitch this book with me! Wouldn't that be a hoot?
Blessings,
Susan :)
Hi Chatty -
Thank you. I hope you get some relaxing time.
Blessings,
Susan :)
Hi Jess -
Maybe they have some kind of radar that hones in on the nervous ones. LOL!
Blessings,
Susan :)
