Friday Round-Up - #111

Jennifer Hudson Taylor alerts us to a great resource for historical fiction writers: FREE archived old magazines.

Jan Cline writes about her concerns over having the right credentials as a writer. Have you wondered whether or not your platform and life experiences are sufficient to land you a contract?

Have a great weekend!

Hi Susan. I'm having trouble seeing the top half of your blog, so I was unable to read your connection this week. This has been going on for several weeks. It could be my computer, but it is only happening on your blog so far. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem at all. I certainly hope it clears up. Blessings to you. You have some great blogs on your Friday Round-Up.

Good links, Susan. Thanks so much!
Blessings,
Karen
P.S. I have the same issue as Nancy, not being able to see the top half of the post I am told that it is a browser (Firefox) issue. So I always click on comments, and when that page comes up, then click 'Show Original Post' near the top. This allows me to read the text of the entire post.

Hi Patti -

You're so right!

I had a super weekend at Philly! You'll hear more about it soon.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Nancy -

Oh, no! This has happened with other people in the past. Usually, they wait until the next post to read the previous one. Some also copy it to Note Pad and read it there.

Thank you for the compliment. I've discovered many fabulous writer blogs. :)

Blessings,
Susan

Hi Karen -

Thanks for the tip. I hope Nancy pops back in to read it.

Will catch up with everyone's blogs ASAP. I'm exhausted tonight.

Blessings,
Susan :)

I always enjoy your links, Susan. I especially liked reading Jan's blog post. I've found in life that I've learned more from "ordinary people," than I have those with credentials. An example is a 100-year-old man I befriended when my dad was in a nursing home. His memory was sharp, and he shared with me his perspective on historical events I'd only read about in history books.

Looking forward to hearing about the conference.

Blessings.
Jean

Cool!

I have the same issue, and I do the same as Karen.

Hi Jean -

Glad you enjoyed the links.

I'll be doing one or two conference-related posts. It took me an hour to figure out how to install software and download pictures from my new-to-me digital camera. :)

Blessings,
Susan

Susan, like others I am not able to see the top of the page. But enjoyed what I could read just the same. Have a great week.

Hi Stephen -

If you use IE, try going to Tools and checking Compatibility View. This helps newer browsers to see blogs connected with an older browser.

Unfortunately, if you use a MAC, there's no magic bullet.

Blessings,
Susan :)

Hi Susan. I just checked and the half post is on all of the last three posts. I will try copying to Nope Pad as I don't want to miss anything.

Hi Nancy -

You might also want to try going to Tools and checking compatibility view. I had to do this to see my own blog!

Blessings,
Susan :)
