On My Nightstand - Oops!

A stack of books glares at me. I sigh. As the conference looms on the horizon, my reading time is fast disappearing.

For the month of August, I won't be recommending/reviewing books. Instead, I'll do my best to write general interest posts, conduct surveys (totally unscientific), and read as much as I can.

What's your favorite reading season? Spring, summer, fall, or winter? Why?

    Hi Susan,
    I dont think I have a favorite season. Because Im a slow reader, I just get it in when I can - elated to have finished one! I try to read a mix of fiction and non fiction since I write both.

    Any season is a reading season for me, although I prefer the long summer nights here in Holland, where I can still read outside by daylight at 10 pm while the birds are still singing!

    I'd love to read a mix of fiction and non-fiction, but I'm focusing on fiction at the moment. The only non-fiction I'm picking up is the Bible. :)

    I'm with you. Hot/sticky and freezing cold don't have a huge appeal. Of course, I do like curling up with a good book in a cozy house.

    I definitely read more in winter than any other season. I think that's because it gets dark earlier. And it just feels right to cuddle beneath a blanket and read when it's cold outside.

    I love a good storm. I'm more of a weather than a season reader. Give me lightning and rolling thunder and a blackout (with flashlights) and that's great reading weather.

    I think it's great that you're taking a bit of a break while preparing for the conference! Focus on your writing and you can get back to the reading when it's less hectic.

    Never considered a favorite reading season...but I think I read more in the winter since there's less daylight and fewer outdoor projects clamoring for my attention. Have a great week!

    I'm an all-season reader, but I do enjoy the whole winter/cozy ambiance with a good book.

    I'm a summer reader. I love to sit outside on summer evenings and read under the stars. I think longer days trick me into thinking that I have more time to read.

    Oh, I just read all of the time. And I used to be a non-reader. That was before I discovered L. M. Alcott. If I had to pick a season, it would be winter. There's nothing like a hot drink, a cozy blanket, lots of time, and a good book. Aaaaaaah.

    Fun thought. I read more when my kids are in school and probably more in the colder months. During spring and summer I want to be outside and with my kids more.

    I like to read in any season. :) I do especially enjoy curling up with a book on a chilly winter evening, though. :)

    When I was growing up, we had a screened-in porch. We'd sit out there, trying to catch a cool breeze, eat our meals, and...read.

    I also read year round, but I seem to read more in the winter because of the cozy factor. :)

    Yes, the milder temps pull me outdoors. After being cooped up with all the snow, it's a welcome relief.

    Reading, for me, is an all-season sport. I'm a voracious reader, just devour books. I feel half-dressed without a book in my hand. :) Hope you enjoy conference and find open doors there!

    Summer is difficult because I'm preparing for the writers conference, gardening, going to picnics, etc. After being stuck indoors all winter, it's hard to resist the call of the great outdoors.
