Conference Week!

Yay! I'm super excited because the Greater Philadelphia Christian Writers Conference begins this week. The link will take you to the website, Write His Answer. From there, you can click on the link for the Philly conference. Marlene Bagnull started the conference 28 years ago. It's not too late to sign up. They accept walk-ins.

I'll be on the Internet sporadically this week, but I hope you'll stop by and say, "hello." Have you ever attended a writers conference? What was your favorite part about the experience?

  1. Have a wonderful time at the conference. I attended my first this year. My favorite workshop was, Reading from the Slush Pile. Agent Kristin Nelson read submissions aloud and told exactly why she would accept or reject it. That was an eye opener.

  4. Hi Linda -

At Philly, they conduct an Agents' Panel. Each agent gives tips and what type of manuscript they represent. The audience has an opportunity to ask questions.

BTW, I still can't comment on your blog. The comment section doesn't give a Name/URL option.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  8. Cheering you on from KY! Will be thinking of and praying for you.

My conference experiences have been good. The first two were organized by MaryAnn Diorio for the NJSCW. They were excellent. The first one's keynote speaker was Roger Palms; the second, Gayle Roper. I gained so much from them. I've attended two local ones in KY too; both were helpful and informative.

    Blessings,
    Karen

  9. Susan, I hope this conference is all that you hoped it would be! I've been to several conferences but my favorite is Marlene Bagnull's conference right here is Estes Park. She's an amazing, Godly woman and her conferences reflect her love for Jesus.

  10. Susan:
Over the years I have attended three. One, the Midwest Writers Workshop, is a secular event. I went once with the writers group I used to belong to. I went to the Indianapolis Christian Writers Conference in Fishers, Indiana. It's sponsored by the Wesleyan Publishing house. I've been there two times.

  13. Hi Karen -

I've been to several 1-Day conferences and, of course, Philly at least seven years. I'd love to go to ACFW someday, but it's usually too far and too pricey.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  14. Hi Dena -

I've known Marlene for about seven years, and her conferences always emphasize the "Christian" in the title.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  19. Susan:
Yes, it is. The town is just a ways down the interstate from our town. I didn't get to go last year and haven't thought that far ahead this year.

  20. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. I went to a conference in Detroit once. My favorite part was meeting other writers.

  24. Hi Kristen -

I'd love to attend ACFW, but it's too far away and too expensive for my budget. I'm blessed to have the Philly conference within a reasonable distance.

Have a wonderful time at the Oregon conference. I hope you'll do a conference report on your blog.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)
