Friday Round-Up - #162

Emily Akin, at Blog4Writers, reprinted by permission an article entitled, "Don't Stop Writing."

If you're fighting the desire to just chuck the whole writing thing, you'll find ideas and inspiration here.

Do you have bouts when you want to quit pursuing publication? How do you handle them?

Have a blessed weekend!

  1. Do I have bouts? You tell me, friend, since you're the one I email when a bout hits!

I whine to you and other friends, I talk to the Lord, I search the Word for answers, I read books like Grit for the Oyster, and I visit blogs of fellow-writers.

Eventually, my emotions settle down, I sigh and tell the Lord, "Okay, You need to take over here, or I'm gonna mess up everything we started by running away."

Then I eat some dark chocolate and buy a new pair of shoes for the next writers conference I'm attending...

  2. I have written a book, and I've had it professionally edited. Then my life became so hectic I put it on the shelf as it seemed to be an over whelming process. I'm hoping in time - I get it back out and try.

  3. I have had many bouts, many, many bouts! It's such a struggle to stay positive sometimes, but prayer and faith keep me strong.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Susan:
Of course, I have bouts of wanting to quit. But I remember Who has allowed me to write.
If He can persevere through all He goes through for us, then I can continue writing.

  5. Hi Jen -

LOL! I've had a few of those bouts myself.

When my emotions are out of control, I refrain from making any major decisions. Like you, I run to my Heavenly Father and give Him my concerns.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  6. Hi Chatty -

Like eating an elephant, one bite at a time usually works. :)

This venture is far more complicated than I'd imagined. I hope the article gives you some encouragement.

  9. I have bouts of thinking that maybe I need to wait a little until life is a little less hectic. But then I remember that life has never not been hectic and now in the kid-season, it is even more so. So there's really no point in waiting for the craziness of life to stop, or I would never write.
On the more spiritual reason: I know God has given me a task that I'm responsible for, so I better write.
On the more human side. my characters would throw a fit!
    Thanks!

  12. Hi Diane -

This journey is a marathon rather than a sprint. I'm glad you have a supportive group. :)
