Friday Round-Up - #149

Laurel Garver, at Laurel's Leaves, gives us ideas on how to recycle all the items we cut from our manuscripts.

Have you ever re-purposed a scene or chapter cut from one of your novels or articles?

Laurel Garver, at Laurel's Leaves, goes on a crusade to stamp out apostrophe abuse.

What aspect of using the apostrophe trips you up, if any?

Ha! It looks like today is Laurel Garver Day. I LOVE her blog. :)

*HOT* Fellow blogger, Kelly Moran, lost her blog along with her Followers and interviews. She's up and running, but needs her Followers to hit the Follower button again. Please take a few minutes to go over to her blog and lend your support. http://kellymoranauthor.blogspot.com/  Thanks!

Have a blessed weekend!

  1. Hi, Susan:

Well, I don't struggle with apostrophes; I get paid to know where to put 'em in my "day job." :) But they can really goof things up if they're misplaced.

Hope things are falling into place for you, dear encourager.

    Love,

    Rhonda

  3. Both of Laurel's articles were very good. I have actually taken parts from my writings and used them in different ways. Her ideas about short stories were great.
I need that lesson on apostrophes. It was very helpful.

  6. Hi Rhonda -

They sure can make a sentence confusing if they're placed in the wrong spot. :)

    Have a great weekend!

  13. Oh my, a lost blog? That would be awful! Just recently I ordered books for each of my 3+ years of blogging in order to capture content in print. I'm thinking of doing a backup on the computer as well.

Apostrophes? Only on occasion do I labor over whether to use them as a possessive or plural tool. I'm rather fond of contractions, so they appear all over my life.

    Blessings,
    Kathleen

  14. Hi, Suze. I see you hit 200 followers--congratulations!!! I have 7 to go, then I'm hosting a party with PRIZES!!!!

I struggle with apostrophes on certain words that are posessives. I need to check out Laurel's post. Thanks for the link.

    Love
    Jen

  15. Hi Kathleen -

Oh, I'd love to get my blog put in book form someday. What a treasure to have for your family!

Like you, contractions are part of my writing and speech. Without them, I think dialogue sounds stiff and unnatural.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  18. Thanks, Susan!

My daughter admonished me to copy all my posts this year after she did my book last year. Sadly, I haven't.

Heading out to check out your links.
