Friday Round-Up - #143

Over the last several years, I've been privileged to contribute to two Cup of Comfort anthologies. They've published 45 books over 10 years and sold two million copies.

I recently visited their website and discovered they are no longer taking submissions as of January 1, 2011. The final book, "A Cup of Comfort for Christian Women," will be published in February 2011.

These books will still be available on their website and at various other booksellers. I'm sad to see this series end.

Have any of you been published in a Cup of Comfort anthology? Which one? Are there any fond memories you'd like to share?





Crystal Laine Miller, of Christian Book Scout, gives teen writers advice. The tips are not only valuable for young people, but also for grown-ups.

Have any of your children, grandchildren, or students shown an interest in writing? How do you encourage their creativity?

    I have seen these books, but have never read one, they do sound really uplifting. The link you left I will check out for writing tips. Blessings and have a happy weekend.

    I'm always looking for new markets, but I had a soft spot for Cup of Comfort. Maybe I'll try Chicken Soup next. :)

    My son wrote a funny article for his college newspaper. It was well written. I was so proud of him. He also can do very good book reviews on Facebook. I encourage him every chance I get. I do with he would take his considerable talent more seriously.

    Sometimes it takes budding writers time to recognize their gifting and pursue it. Don't give up hope. :)

    Thanks for the round-up Susan! I have nieces and nephews who enjoy writing, I tell them to go for it, but to ask themselves two questions before starting: what do I write and why do I write?

    Sorry to hear those books will be coming to an end. As far as young writers, two of my three children enjoy writing as adults. The other one likes it too, just doesn't have the time.

    I'm not familiar with the "Cup of Comfort" books. Are they similar to "Chicken Soup"?

    I think I need a stack of Cup of Comfort Books right now.

    My daughter writes light romance novels, my son has a degree in English composition and is a great editor, and I imagine at least one of my grandkids will show a flair for words. I will encourage them to write for the Master, and crave His applause more than fickle men's.

    There's a lot of writing talent in your family! I know of several authors (Cathy Marie Hake and Brandilyn Collins) whose daughters are following in their footsteps.

    Hi Susan, I was published in A Caup of Comfort for Mothers and Daughters. I came out about two years ago. I'm sorry the series is ending;I didn't know.
