Friday Round-Up - #129

Kathy Ide, at Pixnpens, gives some tips on polishing our manuscripts.

I think I need to be less enthusiastic with the asterisk key to show a change in POV.

What's your favorite tip?

Janalyn Voight, at Author Haven, takes some of the dread out of the elevator pitch.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I always do this ## and then start a new section--can't help it-- it makes it easier for me.
    Enjoy your weekend)

  2. Hi Terri -

Ah, with me it's the asterisk key. Instead of 3-5, I might have 11-15!

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  3. I still use the asterik method. I'm a creature of habit sometimes. My favorite tip? Just keep swimming, just keep swimming - Dora from Finding Nemo.

  4. Kathy had some great tips. They helped me very much, since it's been quite a long time since I needed that type of lesson.

  10. Hi Karen -

Hmm, the asterisk thing seems to be a common problem. I got into the same habit. :)

  11. Great polishing tips on Pixnpens, Susan, especially the one about sentence spacing. I just finished editing a children's book series filled with inconsistent sentence spaces. My word processing program wouldn't allow me to do a find and replace, so I had to fix all of them manually. Little mistakes like that can be an editing nightmare.

  12. I recently learned how to do a page break. It's saved me from constantly rearranging my chaps!

  13. Perfect timing for me as I make FINAL edits on the FINAL edit page of the galley proofs.

Yep, a new one for me, too.

Plus I'm madly working to meet an 11/15 deadline.

Right now? My secret? CUT CUT CUT!!!

  14. Hi Jean -

    Glad the article was beneficial.

It took me forever to retrain myself to leave only one space after a period. Old habits die hard.

    Blessings,
    Susan :)

  15. Hi Jessica -

Knowing the small details of Word can be a tremendous help. Features like Find/Replace and Word Count saved me huge amounts of time.
